In the world of cryptocurrency and online transactions, the threat of scams and phishing attempts is a constant concern. To address this issue, Vigilance DAO has implemented a robust system that allows reporters to flag potentially fraudulent domains and enables validators to assess the validity of these reports. Let's take a closer look at the steps involved in this process.
Report Submission When a user suspects that a domain is phishy or involved in fraudulent activities, they can submit a report to Vigilance DAO. The reporter must provide evidence, such as screenshots or images, supporting their claim. As a token of appreciation for their diligence, the reporter is required to pay a fee of 5 Matic tokens.
Validator Evaluation Once the report is submitted, it goes through the evaluation phase. Validators, who are trusted members of the Vigilance DAO community, review the report and assess its accuracy. Validators carefully examine the evidence provided by the reporter and determine whether the domain is indeed suspicious or a scam.
Validation Outcome Based on the evaluations conducted by the validators, there are two possible outcomes: rejection or acceptance of the report.
-> Rejection: If one of the validators rejects the report, it implies that they do not find substantial evidence to support the claim. In such cases, the reporter's 5 Matic token fee is considered as a slashed. Then, the reporter's stake is transferred to the treasury, where it will be distributed among VIGI token holders, providing an incentive for vigilant participation.
-> Acceptance: If the validators accept the report and find the evidence the reporter provided valid, the reporter's 5 Matic tokens are returned, and they receive a reward of 10 VIGI points. This system encourages reporters to actively participate in identifying and reporting potential scams. These points will receive rewards from the treasury as they accumulate.

Domain Status Update Based on the outcome of the validation process, the domain in question is updated with its legitimacy status. If the validators accept the report, the domain is marked as a scam or fraudulent. If the report gets rejected, the domain retains its previous status depending on the report history of the website.
By following these steps, Vigilance DAO aims to create a decentralized and community-driven approach to combating scams and phishing attempts in cryptocurrency. The involvement of reporters, validators, and the token economy ensures that accurate reports are rewarded and false claims are appropriately addressed.
It is important to note that Vigilance DAO's approach not only relies on education and awareness but also actively involves its community members in identifying and mitigating scams. This collaborative effort helps protect non-tech-savvy users from falling victim to online fraud, promoting a safer environment for all participants in the cryptocurrency ecosystem.
